Mumbai: Sony SAB’s popular family drama Itti Si Khushi continues to strike an emotional chord with viewers through its compelling storytelling and layered character journeys. In a major twist, Inspector Sanjay Bhosale, portrayed by Rishi Saxena, has made a dramatic return to the show — this time with a transformed personality and a renewed sense of purpose.
Earlier depicted as Anvita’s estranged husband with a troubled and aggressive side, Sanjay’s comeback introduces audiences to a far more reflective and emotionally evolved character. The shift promises to add fresh depth to the ongoing narrative and redefine relationships within the story.
Speaking about Sanjay’s return, Rishi Saxena revealed that he had always anticipated the character’s eventual transformation.
“I was really looking forward to it. Even while portraying those darker shades, I ensured there was a motive behind his actions so that when this phase arrived, the evolution would feel believable and organic,” the actor shared.
The actor explained that Sanjay’s current persona is driven more by inner realization than outward change. According to him, the character remains fundamentally the same but has shed the pride and ego that once dictated his decisions.
“Sanjay has had time to reflect on everything that happened. He now understands where things went wrong and why,” said Saxena. “He’s still the same person at his core, but without that arrogance guiding him anymore.”
One of the most intriguing aspects of the character’s return, Saxena noted, is Sanjay’s subtle attempt to help Anvita and Virat while concealing his true emotions behind a detached exterior.
“He doesn’t want the world to know that he’s helping them. There’s a nonchalant layer on the surface, but underneath, there’s genuine concern and emotion,” he explained.
Despite the emotional transition in the storyline, Saxena revealed that he did not consciously alter Sanjay’s body language or performance style.
“For me, the shift was internal rather than physical. I believe mindset changes naturally reflect through performance,” he added.
Sanjay’s re-entry is expected to significantly influence Anvita’s journey, played by Sumbul Touqeer Khan. Instead of creating obstacles as before, Sanjay now appears determined to correct his past mistakes and support her path forward.
“This time, he’s not returning to create hurdles. He wants to make things right,” Saxena said, hinting at major emotional developments ahead.
Reflecting on the broader theme of redemption, the actor shared his personal belief in human transformation.
“One thing I personally believe is that change is constant and time has a way of transforming people. When someone truly reflects on their past actions, it naturally changes their perspective,” he stated.
Rishi Saxena also spoke warmly about working alongside Sumbul Touqeer Khan, praising the chemistry they share on screen.
“It’s always fun performing with Sumbul. Good performances are about give and take, and I think we complement each other very well in emotional scenes,” he said.
With Sanjay’s redemption arc now unfolding, fans of Itti Si Khushi can expect emotionally charged moments, evolving relationships, and unexpected twists as the story progresses.
